Hi guys!
Summer has begun and if you were here to Rome you would really be able to feel it – it is so hot!
Even though children have their summer vacation, there’s no holiday to be had if you are Mr Gay Europe – but I love it, I swear!
Just before the end of my “reign” I’ve had some final important tasks and I want to share them with all of you.
Let’s start with Athens.
I was invited there by Paul Sofianos – the art director of Mr Gay Greece and Mr Gay Cyprus – and, let me tell you, I had an amazing time! I met lots of new friends, all cute and nice guys. About the winners, they both deserved to win their titles and I wish them good luck for the next step – the European competition!
Then I got back to Rome and I got the chance to meet the father of Daniel Zanubio – the guy murdered by homophobic people in South America some month ago. He was invited by Arcigay for the official presentation of a plate in honor of his son. It was a very emotional moment and another great experience I’ll always keep safe in my memories.
Few days later I left Rome once again and I went to my hometown – Palermo – to my parents’ house.
I went there to kiss my mum – I miss her so much living so far away – and I had the chance to join the Palermo Pride Village, open in that period just before the Gay Pride parade. I went there with a big part of my family – my parents, brothers, aunt and cousin – ’cause this is like it should be and my relatives feel the responsibility to be a role model as much as I do. I’m so proud of them!
Even better, I also had some fun times at the beach with my brothers – as you can see…
Finally I came back to Rome, just in time for the Rome Gay Pride 2012.
I’ll always remember it as a very special day but can’t tell you why… It’s a secret best expressed by this picture.

L’Estate di Mr. Gay
Salve gente!
L’Estate è cominciata e se voi foste qui a Roma ve ne rendereste conto – FA CALDO!!!
Malgrado i bambini abbiano smesso di andare a scuola, non esistono vacanze se sei Mr. Gay Europe – adoro, lo giuro!
Appena prima della fine del mio “regno” ho svolto qualche ultimo importante incarico che vorrei condividere con voi.
Cominciamo con ATENE.
Sono stato invitato da Paul Sofianos – il direttore artistico di Mr. Gay Greece e Cyprus – e, credetemi, ho trascorso davvero dei bei momenti. Ho conosciuto molti nuovi amici, tutti carini e simpatici. Riguardo i vincitori, meritavano entrambi di vincere i loro titoli e gli auguro buona fortuna per la prossima tappa – il concorso europeo!
Poi sono tornato a Roma e ho avuto la possibilità di conoscere il padre di Daniel Zanubio – il ragazzo ucciso da persone omofobiche in Sud-America qualche mese fa. E’ stato invitato da Arcigay per presenziare alla presentazione ufficiale di una targa in onore di suo figlio. E’ stato un momento molto commovente ed una di quelle grandi esperienze che terrò sempre a mente negli anni.
Pochi giorni dopo sono partito nuovamente e sono andato nella mia città natale – PALERMO – dai miei genitori.
Sono andato da loro per dare un bacio a mia madre – mi manca molto a causa della lontananza – e ho avuto la possibilità visitare il Palermo Pride Village, aperto in quel periodo giusto prima della parata del Gay Pride. Sono andato lì con una consistente porzione della mia famiglia – i miei genitori, fratelli, zia e cugino – perché è così che dovrebbe essere e la mia famiglia, come me, sente la responsabilità di dare il giusto esempio. Sono molto orgoglioso di loro!
Inoltre, si, ho avuto anche qualche momento di svago al mare con i miei fratelli – come potete vedere…
Alla fine sono tornato a Roma, giusto in tempo per il Roma Gay Pride 2012.
Lo ricorderò sempre come un giorno speciale ma non posso dirvi il perché… E’ un segreto ben espresso da questa fotografia.
