Why do you want to take part in MGE22
As Mister Gay Belgium 2020 and 2021 I wanna use my voice and represent the entire community of Europe. I came out with my own story’s about being kicked out of the house because of my gender and sexuality, I was sexually assaulted, how hard it can to be a gay teacher (parents, school…). Telling all of my personal story’s made me stronger and made other people realize that they are not alone in this world. That is why I wanna participate in Mr Gay Europe 2022, I want to help people, make them realize that they will never be alone and show the world how beautiful and divers the LGBTQI+ community is!
What is the biggest LGBT challenge in Europe today
I live in Belgium, I can legally be myself. Being accepted here, isn’t always the case. When I was younger and just started coming out, I was very afraid to really be myself in public. Eventually I started to experiment with my gender (make-up, high heels…). But, I am now strong enough to stand up for myself, because it is time to speak up. However, living in Belgium as an LGBTQ+ person is a blessing. I started meeting some people who had to run away from their country because of their gender/sexuality. Hearing/reading story’s of people living in Poland, Russia… break my hearth. I think that is the most painful part of Europe. Together we stand stronger against hate, together we can make the difference!
Your profession / study
I am an elementary teacher. I now teach 8-9 year olds.
Your hobbies
I love music, for me it’s a real release. I love listening to music, but I can also play some instruments and like to sing as well.
Why should you become MGE22
Being Mister Gay Belgium has learned me to be a real role model for the entire community. The past year has taught me to be strong and use my power and voice for those who does not have a voice. I want to carry the entire community to move forward, grow stronger and gain more acceptance towards the LGBTQI+ community. Therefor I think that I would be a great Mister Gay Europe!
How would your friends describe you
My friends would describe me as someone very open and social. I love to speak and use my voice for people who are not ready to use their own. I am someone very dedicated and if I want something to happen, I will make it happen!
Your idea for your national costume
Our Belgium pride are the ‘red devils’. The last weeks I am getting more and more into sports, Mister Gay Belgium 2019 was a footballer. He always was and will always be my biggest role model! Therefor I would love to come as ‘the red devil’.
