Mr Gay Europe is changing and we have chosen Scandinavia as the perfect setting for our exciting search for Europe’s new LGBTI ambassador.

Whoever we crown as Mr Gay Europe, in August will have to face a new world where looking the part is only a fraction of the skills required to capture the minds of our European community. He will have to be a spokesperson for the LGBTI community, this is not just about looking the part, our winner will need to have the intelligence, drive and creativity to inspire a continent. The LGBTI community still faces many challenges and our new competition will find someone who can lead.

“Why Scandinavia?” Well to put it simply, one of the most important reasons why The Mr Gay Europe Team chose Scandinavia is because of Stockholm Pride. Co-founder and owner Tore Aasheim explains, “Stockholm Pride has been able to make Gay Pride a celebration not only for the gay community but for the whole of The Swedish community which is a philosophy we at Mr Gay Europe share and believe in.” He goes on further to say, “What’s most important for us, as a team, is to create an event that brings delegates from all over Europe together in an open and free environment where they can connect, exchange experiences and learn from each other.” Mr Aasheim continues, “The currently refreshed Mr Gay Europe competition will take us in a new direction which frees us from the need to produce the Mr Gay Europe Finale in countries where a delegate is present, and we are still looking for a delegate from Norway and Sweden. Could that be you?”

This year in 2016, The Mr Gay Europe Team will allow any individual from a country (which does not produce a national competition in that country) to register online and possibly be chosen by the Mr Gay Europe Team to take part in the event, and represent their country on the international LGBTI Stage. To enter Mr Gay Europe, all you have to do is complete our online registration form and tell The Mr Gay Europe team, ‘why’ you should be the one chosen to represent your country. The world has changed so much in recent years and we at Mr Gay Europe are ready to find our new ambassador for our global LGBTI community. Could that be you?

At Mr Gay Europe 2016, the delegates will be assessed by many different means. Some may say, that “This is the toughest job interview in the world!” After all, This IS Mr Gay Europe! The delegates will be assessed by a personal interview and there will be several tests and challenges to complete and the delegates will even be put into situations where they will be showing off some skin; but there won’t be the cliche of the usual swim-wear competition where the guys strut around in minimum clothing on a stage. That being said, the delegates do need to feel comfortable in their own skin – this is not a competition for shy people, this is Mr Gay Europe.

“How do you find a Mr Gay Europe winner?” is a question which is always asked. The answer is simple: The delegates will be assessed from the moment they arrive until the final decision is made at the last minute of the competition. Our Mr Gay Europe judges will travel with the gentlemen and will be taking notes along the journey, the entire competition. We will be looking for someone who is more than just empty words, someone who stands out as a leader and someone who has a vision for what he will be doing as the new Mr Gay Europe. There will be points given during the week, but the most important thing is that the jury agrees on the winner, on who is the best gay for the job and that gentleman will be our new Mr Gay Europe 2016.
